Putin visits Kursk as Russian forces claim further advances in region

Vladimir Putin has visited Kursk for the first time since Ukraine partly invaded the Russian region in a surprise August 2024 offensive. In footage broadcast on state television, the Russian president visited the armed forces’ command centre in Kursk. His visit came as Ukraine’s army commander suggested his troops were pulling back from the Russian border region
