By this time tomorrow the talking will be underway – Presidents Putin and Trump facing one another over Ukraine and how to end the biggest war in Europe since the Second World War.
It might, if things go wrong, even be over by ten. President Trump reckoned he would know in the first few minutes which way it was going to go.
He warned the chance of failure was twenty five percent but overall his comments through the day have been positive.
President Putin would like to make a deal, he said. He’s not going to mess around with me.
That agreement, Mr. Trump suggested, would come in a second meeting – held quickly – involving Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy as well.
