Sky’s Rhiannon Mills discusses the significance of the two-day Qatari state visit to Britain, describing it as "the ultimate diplomatic gift that our country can give".
The Prince and Princess of Wales greeted the Emir of Qatar and his wife in private, before an official welcome by the King at Horse Guard’s parade, which the Queen was unable to attend due to the "lingering side effects" of a recent chest infection.
The visit is expected to reinforce UK-Qatari ties, as well as acknowledge Qatar’s recent global diplomatic efforts to de-escalate some of the world’s most pressing crises – although concerns have previously been raised over the country’s human rights record.
