She’s been described as the Black British Bridget Jones – and now the fictional character Queenie is making the leap from the printed page to TV.

Her creator, Candice Carty-Williams became the first Black woman to win Book of the Year in 2020, a moment she later described as bittersweet.
We went to meet her, and the actress who plays Queenie, at a screening in South London where the series was set and filmed.
