Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt partially reopens after nearly two years | ITV News

Israel has announced that Gaza’s Rafah Crossing has reopened after nearly two years.

It is a test opening ahead of limited passage being allowed for Palestinians.
Aid trucks and ambulances were seen lining up on the Egyptian side of the crossing, waiting to travel to the Gaza Strip on Sunday.

The Rafah crossing has been closed since May 2024, when Israel took control of the Gaza side.

The reopening comes a day after at least 30 Palestinians, including several children, were killed by Israeli strikes. It was one of the highest death tolls since the brokering of the Gaza ceasefire in October.

The strikes hit locations throughout the Palestinian territory, including an apartment building in Gaza City and a tent camp in Khan Younis, hospital officials said.

On Friday, the Israeli military body in charge of coordinating aid to Gaza said the crossing would be open in both directions from Sunday for "the limited movement of people only".
