The Northern Ireland rap group Kneecap have apologised to the families of two murdered MPs after footage emerged appearing to show one of the group’s members calling for the killing of MPs.

The apologies to the families of Sir David Amess and Jo Cox came after the band faced condemnation from Downing Street and Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch. Kneecap said the statements were taken out of context – claiming they had been the subject of a smear campaign.
