'Really worrying' levels of acid in oceans is threatening marine life | ITV News

New research has found higher levels of acid in the oceans which is damaging coral reefs and causing shells to weaken.

When the sea absorbs carbon dioxide, it decreases the pH making the water more acidic. The rate of ocean acidification could mean Britain’s shellfish could disappear within the next two decades.

ITV News reporter Sangita Lal spoke to Professor Helen Findley from Plymouth Marine Laboratory about an issue which she described as "unseen" and "really worrying."
