Reeves interrupted by heckler as she strikes more optimistic tone

Chancellor Rachel Reeves insisted there would be no return to austerity as she delivered her keynote speech to the Labour Party conference.

She called for "iron discipline" and "relentless focus" to improve the economy.

But the message was disrupted, first by a pro-Palestinian heckler and then by news that nurses had rejected the latest pay offer from the government to end their long-running dispute.
