
The Jamaican reggae pioneer Jimmy Cliff has died, aged 81.

The multi-instrumentalist was an award-winning singer and actor and helped inspire other ska, rocksteady and reggae artists.
He began songwriting as a child in Kingston and had his first hit locally while still a teenager.
His starring role in the 1972 film ‘The Harder They Come’ helped to propel him to international fame.
