Rescue efforts are under way in Taiwan after a powerful earthquake struck close to the city of Hualien, leaving buildings tilted at precarious angles.

Footage released by the fire department showed emergency personnel walking through dark corridors while going door to door and calling out to residents. The 7.2-magnitude earthquake also rocked buildings in the capital, Taipei, where several people were rescued from a partially collapsed warehouse.
