‘Fundamentally I think a lot of young people do see our society as a failure and in some ways they are being taught to distrust the Western model in in schools and universities. We know that.
But if you don’t have a hope of being able to afford a house, if you don’t think you’re ever going to get on the property ladder, if you’re finding it impossible to start a family because of the increase in the cost of living, if you have mental health problems, if you are subjected to social media addiction and those kind of things, then it’s not surprising that the younger generation has been turned off the pillars of Western society that older generations celebrate.’
