In his interview with BBC Breakfast this morning Rishi Sunak said he should not be rushed into announcing a decision o the fate of the HS2 high-speed rail line as speculation about the multibillion pound project continued to overshadow the Conservative conference.

He also rejected claims that his handling of the HS2 decision had been poor when it was put to him that delaying the decision meant this had been a ‘huge distraction’ at the conference.
