Public frustration over rising living costs and currency crisis in Iran has once again fueled nationwide protests. Efforts by the US to limit Iran’s oil exports, as well as the war with Israel in June, have also contributed to the worsening economy. Djavad Salehi-Isfahani, a professor of economics at Virginia Tech, explains Iran’s economic woes.
