Rough sleepers to be given free NHS flu jabs leading up to winter

From this week, people experiencing homelessness become eligible for a free NHS flu jab to help combat winter illnesses.

The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) advised in June that NHS flu jabs should be made available to those without fixed accommodation.

The start of the scheme comes after Andy Burnham vowed to end rough sleeping.

Those sleeping rough join other groups eligible for a flu jab this week including people aged 65 and over, all adults in clinical risk groups, care home residents, carers, and close contacts of those who are immunocompromised.
