Russia say they're not interested in British underwater communications | Michael Clarke analysis

A warning from the defence secretary that a Russian spy ship is on the edge of UK waters.

John Healey said it’s the second time this year Moscow has deployed the vessel close to Britain — and that crew members on the ship had directed lasers at RAF pilots to distract them.

The Russian embassy in the UK responded saying it’s a research vessel and Russia is not interested in British underwater communications.

Sky’s Michael Clarke says the issue with the vessel is that it hovers over cables and pipelines. "It’s always hanging around the areas that we know is sensitive" he says.

He adds: "The Russians can say it’s hysteria but you’ve only got to look at the tracking of this vessel".
