Russia spy ship: 'Putin is trying to distract us from supporting Ukraine,' says Tobias Elwood

UK forces were hit by lasers while tracking a Russian "spy ship", the defence secretary says. Russia has responded to the accusation – claiming suspicions "only raise a smile".

Former chair of the defence select committee, Tobias Elwood, tells Sky News that "Putin is trying to distract and disrupt us from taking our eye off of the ball on supporting Ukraine."

"I’m pleased to see the response by Britain today – but I believe it needs to go further," he says.
