Russian general killed in suspected Ukrainian car bomb attack

A senior Russian general has been killed in a car bomb attack outside his home near Moscow, the latest in a series of high-profile assassinations since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov was a key figure in preparing Russian forces for deployment, with previous service in Chechnya and Syria.

There has been no claim of responsibility, but the Kremlin believes Ukraine may be involved, which Kyiv has neither confirmed nor denied.
