Simple headline ratings for schools have been scrapped. Previously, the schools regulator Ofsted ranked schools either ‘outstanding’, ‘good’, ‘requires improvement’ or ‘inadequate’.

The Government says the change, which follows the suicide of head teacher Ruth Perry in 2023, was needed to improve fairness for schools and information for parents.
