S Korea: rival rallies staged for and against impeached president

Thousands of South Koreans have staged rival rallies in adjacent streets for and against the impeached president.

Investigators have again asked the acting president to order the presidential security service to comply with the arrest warrant for Yoon Suk-yeol, over his short-lived attempt to impose martial law last month.

Yesterday, presidential guards and military troops prevented his arrest during a six-hour standoff inside Yoon’s compound.
