Safeguarding minister says government is tackling violence against women as a priority

Safeguarding minister Jess Phillips says it’s a "national emergency" that women don’t feel safe and has promised the government is working to tackle violence against women and girls as a priority.

The Labour MP told the Commons, "those who commit heinous crimes against women and girls have no place in policing." It follows the publication of The Angiolini Inquiry, which looked into the death of Sarah Everard, who was raped and murdered by a Met Police officer.
