Easington Colliery Brass Band are blowing their own trumpets about featuring on Sam Fender’s number one album after keeping schtum about the project.

A six-year-old boy from Staffordshire who took his smooth fox terrier to Crufts has made history after becoming one of the show’s youngest ever winners.

Freddie Osborne competed with family dog and "best friend" Penny, who at eight years old, is older than he is. The pair came first in the veteran breed category.

Lastly, a horse racing fanatic celebrated his 105th birthday in fitting style with a party at Catterick racecourse.

Frank Buttery, from Chesterfield, is a regular face on the racing circuit, having gone to his first event in 1942.
