Same-sex marriage banned in Georgia as gay rights severely limited

The Speaker of the parliament of Georgia has stepped in to sign into law a bill that severely limits gay rights in the country.

The Georgian President had refused to sign the bill, which was approved by MPs last month. The law, which includes a ban on same-sex marriage or any public endorsement of LGBTQ-plus relations in the media, has been condemned by human rights campaigners.
