Sarah Everard report author 'incredulous' over lack of police action

The author of a report into the kidnapping, rape and murder of Sarah Everard has criticised the lack of action from the country’s police forces to counter violence against women.

Lady Elish Angiolini told Sky’s Sarah-Jane Mee finding solutions to the threat to women was not "complex or difficult".

Lady Elish’s report found that sexually motivated crimes against women in public do not get the same response as other high-priority crimes.

The inquiry was launched to investigate how police officer Waynes Couzens was able to carry out his crimes, as well as looking at wider issues within policing and women’s safety.
