Hundreds of schools have closed across the UK, and flights have been cancelled as snow continues to cause disruption, with weather warnings still in force. Amber weather warnings were in place for snow until 10am in parts of Scotland, while yellow warnings for snow and ice cover much of the UK.
Forecasters say a further 5 to 10cm of snow could settle at lower levels, with up to 20 to 30cm on higher ground. People in many parts of the North East and North Yorkshire are battling snow for a third day, with some areas experiencing fresh flurries overnight and into Monday morning as temperatures fell well below freezing.
