Scientists grow synthetic human embryos from stem cells | DW News

Can biological reproduction ever become obsolete: That’s a question researchers in Israel are trying to answer. For now, it looks impossible to create a human baby without a mother and father to help. But they’ve made a striking progress in growing an embryo – basically from scratch.

What makes us human? Well one thing every human on the planet has in common is that we come from a fertilized egg cell. At least, we have until now. But there’s no guarantee it’ll remain the only way in the future. New research from Israel has re-ignited debates in an already controversial field…
