Scotland Decides: Leaders debate ahead of May elections

Three weeks from polling day we’re in Glasgow as Scotland’s election campaign has burst into life, voters deciding the future of this country and potentially the fate of the entire United Kingdom.

Politics here has been transformed in recent months by the arrival of Reform UK on the scene and a Labour government in Westminster that has crashed from landslide victory to deep unpopularity in under two years.

The SNP, in power for almost twenty years, has gone from electoral disaster in 2024 to being on the verge of an historic fifth term of government next month.

And the Scottish parliament could end up with a majority for independence, facing a UK government refusing to grant a referendum.

We are joined by Scottish Conservative leader Russell Findlay, Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar, SNP leader John Swinney- who was appointed Scottish First Minister in 2024 – the leader of Reform in Scotland Lord Malcolm Offord, co-leader of the Scottish Green Party Gillian Mackay, and Scottish Liberal Democrats leader Alex Cole-Hamilton.
