Second runway for Gatwick Airport

The government has approved plans for a second runway at Gatwick Airport, saying it could create thousands of jobs and help "kickstart the economy".

The £2.2bn project involves moving the emergency runway 12 metres north, allowing around 100,000 more flights a year. Gatwick is currently Europe’s busiest single runway airport.
