A senior cabinet minister has warned there will be "financial consequences" after Sir Keir Starmer was forced to make last minute concessions over welfare reform.

50 MPs still voted against the Government’s bill – despite the climbdown. The reforms were originally designed to save almost £5 billion by the end of the decade. But economists predict the changes mean there will be "no net savings".
