Three members of the senior leadership team at the hospital when Lucy Letby carried out her crimes have been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter, police have said.
Former nurse Lucy Letby is serving 15 whole-life orders after she was convicted of murdering seven babies and attempting to kill seven others – with two attempts on one of her victims – at the Countess of Chester Hospital, between June 2015 and June 2016.
Following the convictions, in October 2023 Cheshire Police launched an investigation into corporate manslaughter at the hospital, after it was alleged bosses breached their duty of care by ignoring signs Letby was harming babies on the neonatal ward.
Now, in an update the force has confirmed "three individuals who were part of the senior leadership team at the Countess of Chester in 2015-2016, were arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter" on 30 June.
They have since been released on bail pending further inquiries.
