Sir Salman Rushdie: man jailed for 25 years for stabbing author

A man has been jailed for 25 years for stabbing the author Sir Salman Rushdie and leaving him blind in one eye.

In 2022, Hadi Matar ran on to a lecture stage in New York state and stabbed him more than a dozen times in front of a live audience.

Rushdie’s talk at the Chautauqua Institution had been about the safety of writers.
