The numbers of migrants coming to Europe are rising. For years the European Union has agreed this is a crisis — without agreeing on how to handle it. The camp on the Greek island of Lesbos has become a symbol of the difficulties facing the EU’s asylum policy. Still more than 1300 people have been arriving every month since July 2023.
