Snapped mast ends sailor's round-the-world race

British sailor Pip Hare had always planned on spending Christmas alone in the ocean but sadly things didn’t work out quite the way she had hoped.

The skipper was forced out of a round the world yacht race when her mast snapped 800 miles south of Australia two weeks ago.

However, despite the disappointment Pip kept positive and been celebrated as a role model for sailors around the globe.
