Snow forces hundreds of school closures and creates travel disruption across UK

Snow has forced hundreds of schools to close and disrupted travel across the UK, with Scotland particularly hard hit.

Flights and train services have been cancelled. Temperatures dropped to minus 10 degrees in Cumbria overnight and yellow warnings for snow and ice are in place across large parts of the country.
