Opening statements begin in phase two of the independent public inquiry into the Southport killings, chaired by Sir Adrian Fulford.
The statutory inquiry considers the circumstances surrounding the attack, in which then-17-year-old Axel Rudakubana murdered Elsie Dot Stancombe, Bebe King, and Alice da Silva Aguiar at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in July 2024.
Phase Two will examine violence-fixated individuals, the role of the internet and social media, systems for monitoring and disrupting online activity, and laws around offensive weapons.
