Merseyside Police said an officer has sustained a suspected broken nose and police vehicles have been damaged and set alight in Southport. A large crowd gathered outside a mosque near to where several children were stabbed at a dance studio on Monday morning. Misinformation spreading online about the attacker’s identity has fuelled growing tensions. Protesters could be seen attacking police officers and shouting ‘Tommy Robinson’. Less than a mile away, hundreds of people had gathered earlier to pay tribute to the three children who were killed in the attack. The police have said others are being treated in hospital and the attacker was a 17-year-old boy originally from Cardiff.
