SpaceX flight to replace astronauts stranded in space for nine months cancelled

A pair of NASA astronauts have been stranded on the International Space Station since June 2024. The two test pilots had planned on being away for just a week or so when they blasted off on Boeing’s first astronaut flight in the Starliner capsule, but nine months later, they are still stuck after unsuccessful rescue attempts.

SpaceX Crew 10 was originally prepared for lift off to replace the pilots, however the launch was cancelled due to a hydraulic fault.

Sunita Williams, who is stranded with fellow astronaut Butch Wilmore, said she misses her family and two dogs.

She said "Everybody’s cheering for us to get back."
