Spain could remove some Airbnb rentals

In Spain, over sixty-thousand properties could be removed from Airbnb because they flout regulations for short term tourist rentals.

A Spanish government minister called it a ‘clear victory for those who fight to protect the right to housing’.

Protests across Spain have targeted over-tourism amid a spiralling housing crisis, and the properties involved are in popular regions including Madrid and Catalonia.

Airbnb said they would appeal against the ruling.
