Sperm whale stranded near Perth beach has died

A sperm whale that was stranded over the weekend on a sandbank at a popular beach near Perth in Australia has died.

Australia’s Parks and Wildlife Service says the nearly 50-foot creature swam off the sandbank and into open water where it died late on Monday.
