Footage shared online shows smoke rising from a sports hall within Tehran’s Azadi Stadium after it was hit in a strike on March 5th.
According to officials, both the Azadi complex, which includes a 12,000-seat arena built for the 1979 Asian Games, and another sports hall were hit by attacks.
Israel provided no immediate explanation for the targeting choice.
However, Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard and its all-volunteer Basij have used such facilities as rallying points after earlier airstrikes took out other bases
