In prime minister’s questions at the House of Commons, Nigel Farage, the Reform UK leader, said he had enjoyed Keir Starmer’s speech about immigration on Monday and that the prime minister seemed to be ‘learning a great deal’ from his party.

He pushed Starmer to declare a national emergency at the borders, to which Starmer responded that the border security bill will give ‘terrorism-like powers to law enforcement … to defend and secure our borders’, before pointing out that Farage voted against it
