Keir Starmer has responded to yesterday’s far right demonstration in London by insisting that the country will never surrender the flag to ‘those that use it as a symbol of violence, fear and division’.

Earlier the Business Secretary had insisted that the fact the demonstration had gone ahead showed that free speech is ‘alive and well’ in the UK.
But that has not quelled the discontent among Labour backbenchers, still angry over the PM’s choice to hire, and then – as they see it – belatedly fire Peter Mandelson from his role as Ambassador to the US.
