Prime Minister Keir Starmer has responded to Trump’s tariffs by announcing a relaxation on rules on enough electric vehicles after car manufacturers were badly hit by the tariffs.

Rules around fines for manufacturers who don’t sell enough electric cars will be eased and vehicle manufacturers like Aston Martin and McLaren will be allowed to continue producing petrol-only models after 2030 because they only make a small number of vehicles per year.
