Within the last hour, Sir Keir Starmer’s director of communications Tim Allan has announced he is stepping down.

The news comes as the prime minister prepares to meet mutinous Labour MPs, after his top aide, Morgan McSweeney, resigned yesterday over the scandal surrounding Peter Mandelson’s connections to Jeffrey Epstein.
In a statement, Tim Allan said he was standing down to allow “a new No 10 team to be built".
