30 councils in England will go ahead with local elections in May after a legal challenge by Reform UK forced Keir Starmer into yet another U-turn.

The government had allowed some councils to delay elections in areas where the two-tier system is being replaced.
But now it’s shelling out £63 million to pay for them to proceed as planned.
Officials said it would be an uphill struggle.
