Storm Eowyn has brought record wind speeds to Ireland, hundreds of thousands of homes are without power there and in Northern Ireland, and people in Scotland have been urged to stay indoors.
A wind speed of 114 mph was recorded on the Irish coast in County Galway, narrowly beating the last record set in 1945.
A rare red warning of a danger to life was issued for Northern Ireland and Scotland where hundreds of schools remained closed and transport has been severely disrupted.
