From Scotland to Wales to the Channel Islands, Storm Goretti caused chaos overnight causing power cuts, widespread travel disruption and school closures.
Winds of almost 100 miles per hour were recorded in the south West where a red weather warning was issued.
Tens of thousands of homes are still without power in the region tonight with Downing Street saying support was being offered.
There was heavy snow across the Midlands and also in Wales where 15 centimetres fell in some areas.
And Scotland suffered more heavy snow with temperatures dipping as low as minus 13 and a half Celsius in Braemar.
