The former health secretary, Wes Streeting, has confirmed he will enter any Labour leadership contest to replace Sir Keir Starmer as prime minister.
Mr Streeting – who resigned this week – had been speaking at the Labour-backing think tank, Progress, where he also expressed hopes the UK would one day reverse Brexit.
It was his first public appearance since quitting the Cabinet. No contest has yet actually been triggered against Sir Keir Starmer’s leadership.
