The army reported two explosions and say it was an attempt by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to kill Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the military chief. No one has claimed responsibility.

The Sudanese army and paramilitary RSF have been fighting for control of Sudan since April 2023. In recent weeks both sides have agreed to US mediated talks.
