A young mother took her own life after her abusive ex-partner bombarded her with messages urging her to kill herself – including while she was sectioned in a psychiatric hospital, Channel 4 News can reveal.

25-year-old Ashleigh Inskip was subjected to violence and coercive control for at least three years before she was found dead at her home in North Tyneside in July 2021.
This, as the National Police Chiefs Council said that the number of suicides following domestic abuse continues to be higher than killings in relationships.
