A supermoon coinciding with a partial lunar eclipse was seen around the world on Tuesday night.

Lunar eclipses are caused by the Earth passing between the sun and the moon. This casts the Earth’s shadow on to the moon’s surface. On Tuesday night, the shadow didn’t entirely cover the moon, making it a partial eclipse.
